Four school buildings and the municipal court open as Warren polling places at 6 a.m. Tuesday, and they stay open until 8 p.m. The ballot carries the township's nonbinding question on the Hofheimer House, the vacant former municipal building at 46 Mountain Boulevard. Two days later both school districts close for the NJEA Convention, and the K-8 schools run half days until then.

The short answer

The general election is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Warren votes at five sites: Mt. Horeb School, Angelo L. Tomaso School, Warren Middle School, Watchung Hills Regional High School and the Warren Municipal Court at 44 Mountain Boulevard. A mail-in ballot has to be in a county drop box or postmarked by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Warren K-8 schools have half days Monday through Wednesday for teacher conferences, and both the K-8 district and Watchung Hills are closed Thursday and Friday for the NJEA Convention.

These are the sites the county certified in 2025, and Patch reported on October 26 that the township's list for this election is the same. Your district is printed on your sample ballot. You can also look up your polling place on the state's polling place search before you leave.

Monday: the last chance to apply for a mail-in ballot

Today until 3 p.m. is the last window to apply for a mail-in ballot in person at the Somerset County Clerk's office. If you already hold a mail-in ballot, the state Division of Elections says it must go into a county drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, or carry a postmark on or before 8 p.m. that day and reach the county Board of Elections within six days. Mailing it a few days early, or asking a post office clerk to hand stamp it, avoids a late postmark.

Warren K-8 schools run half days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for parent and teacher conferences.

Tuesday: Election Day

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Warren question is advisory. It asks whether the township should spend $7.5 million to restore the Hofheimer House as community meeting space. Patch put the cost to the average household at about $81 a year on the municipal portion of the tax bill over a 20 year bond. A yes vote does not authorize the money and a no vote does not forbid it. The Township Committee decides afterward. The full background, including the Clarke Caton Hintz cost estimate behind the number, is in the Hofheimer House ballot question post.

The forecast calls for areas of fog in the morning, then sun and a high near 68.

Wednesday: a third half day

The K-8 conference schedule ends with another half day. Central School holds a spirit day, and Mt. Horeb School has picture retakes, per the district calendar.

Thursday and Friday: schools closed, recycling and rain

Both districts are closed Thursday and Friday for the NJEA Convention, per the K-8 district calendar and the Watchung Hills calendar. Curbside recycling is Thursday, per the Warren calendar.

The Veterans Resource Job and Wellness Fair runs Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at VFW Post 2290 in Manville. It is free for veterans, with careers, resources and health and wellness tables, per the township's notice of October 29.

Rain moves in Thursday. The National Weather Service gives a 60 percent chance Thursday, 80 percent Thursday night and 60 percent Friday, with highs near 70.

Saturday and Sunday: a rabies clinic

The Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission runs a free rabies vaccination clinic Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Green Brook Municipal Building, 111 Greenbrook Road. No registration is needed. Pets must be at least 6 months old, cats in carriers and dogs on a leash.

Fourth quarter property taxes came due November 1, the last of the four 2026 bills. How the rate is set is on the property taxes page. No open houses were listed for Warren when I checked this morning. Any added later appear on the open houses page.

Roads

Warren police posted three alerts since last Monday's week ahead. One repeated the Mountain View Road paving closure. On Wednesday, Morning Glory Road closed northbound between King George Road and Hunters Trail for utility work until about 4 p.m., with a detour. On Halloween, police asked drivers to slow down for trick-or-treaters. No closure for this week had been posted when I checked this morning. I found no alert saying Hillcrest Road north of Mountain Avenue reopened after the October 22 water main break in Long Hill.

What I could not verify

The township website would not load for me this morning, so I could not read its News Flash, calendar or Agenda Center for this piece. That means I could not confirm whether any meeting was added this week or whether an agenda is posted for the November 12 Township Committee meeting, a date taken from the 2026 schedule reported in August. I could not find a full 2026 Warren candidate list or sample ballot from the county to quote, so this post covers the township question only. Your sample ballot lists every race. The K-8 district calendar now lists the next Board of Education meeting for November 30, not November 16, and I have not confirmed which date stands. I did not find a posted time or place for a Warren Veterans Day ceremony. Corrections are welcome at john@nexthomepremier.com.
