Warren Schools, the Complete Picture
Warren children attend two separate public school districts. Warren Township Schools runs four elementary schools, Warren Middle School and a preschool program, with advertised enrollment of about 1,734 students for 2026-27. From ninth grade they move to Watchung Hills Regional High School at 108 Stirling Road, a separate district whose member municipalities are Warren Township, Watchung Borough and Long Hill Township. Each district has its own board, its own budget and its own line on your tax bill, and the K-8 line is roughly two and a half times the high school line.

Two districts, two boards, two budgets
The arrangement that surprises newcomers: the K-8 district and the high school district are legally separate. Watchung Hills draws from three towns, and its taxing members are Warren Township, Watchung Borough and Long Hill Township. Green Brook sends students by paying tuition and is not a member. A regionalization study has examined whether the structure should change.

The 2026-27 year at a glance
The two districts do not start together. Watchung Hills opens Wednesday, August 26, 2026 and Warren K-8 opens a week later on Wednesday, September 2, a gap covered in the two first days of school. WHRHS graduation and last day is June 11, 2027. The K-8 last day is June 21, 2027. Both districts share the major breaks: Thanksgiving November 26 and 27, winter recess from late December through January 1, and spring recess April 12 to 16. The boards
The Watchung Hills Board of Education meets at the high school, with executive session at 7:00 p.m. and public session at 7:30 p.m. Remaining 2026 dates: September 15, October 13 (work session), October 27, November 17 and December 8, with reorganization January 5, 2027.
