The National Weather Service put Warren under a frost advisory until 9 a.m. today, and the rest of the week stays dry and cool. The bigger date comes at the end of it. In person early voting for the November 3 general election opens Saturday, October 24, and runs nine days. Before that, the Township Committee meets Thursday at 7 p.m. for the first time since it adopted the [Round Top bond ordinance](https://blog.johnmangini.com/warren-buys-round-top-swim-club/), and the township runs a vaccine clinic Wednesday afternoon.

The short answer

Early voting opens Saturday, October 24, and runs through Sunday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The Township Committee meets Thursday, October 22, at 7 p.m. in the Susie B. Boyce Court Room, 44 Mountain Boulevard. The community vaccine clinic runs Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Warren Township Courthouse, 46 Mountain Boulevard. Curbside recycling is Thursday. The Mini Dump is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1 Bardy Road.

## Monday: frost, a walk and the open space committee

The forecast calls for widespread frost before 10 a.m., then sun and a high near 64\. If you still have tender plants or hoses out, this is the morning that reaches them.

The Mayor's Wellness Campaign walk this evening is at 5 p.m. at East County Park, near the information kiosk, with Committeeman Lance Blick. The Open Space Advisory Committee meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the library conference room, per the township calendar. It is the committee's first meeting since the township's open space survey closed, the survey covered in the [October 5 week ahead](https://blog.johnmangini.com/week-ahead-october-5/).

## Tuesday: the Watchung Hills music showcase

Watchung Hills Regional High School holds its Fall Instrumental Music Showcase from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, 108 Stirling Road, per the school's calendar. The high school PTO meets virtually from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. At Angelo L. Tomaso School, Tuesday is picture retake day.

## Wednesday: the vaccine clinic

The community vaccine clinic runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Warren Township Courthouse, 46 Mountain Boulevard, offering flu, COVID, pneumonia and Tdap shots. The township asks for pre-registration and says the shots are free under most insurance plans, with some plans not accepted. The Environmental Commission meets at 7 p.m.

## Thursday: recycling, an auction and the Township Committee

Curbside recycling is Thursday, the first pickup since October 8\. At 11 a.m. the township auctions surplus vehicles and equipment at the Public Works garage, 1 Bardy Road, under Resolution 2026-250\. The list includes a 2015 Jeep Patriot, two Chevrolet Tahoes, a 2007 Ford pickup and a 2008 Dodge Dakota.

The Township Committee meets at 7 p.m. in the Susie B. Boyce Court Room. I could not read the township website for this piece, so I could not confirm whether the agenda has been posted or what is on it. Committee business is tracked on the [government and budget page](https://blog.johnmangini.com/warren-government-and-budget/). The Alzheimer's Association webinar series continues online from 7 to 8 p.m. with Communicating Effectively. Registration is through the township's October 2 notice.

## Friday: a morning walk, a Trunk-or-Treat and the Warriors at Bridgewater

The Friday wellness walk is at 10:15 a.m. at East County Park with Bridget H. Granholm, on stress management. Mt. Horeb School holds its Trunk-or-Treat from 6:30 to 8 p.m., per the district calendar.

Watchung Hills football plays at Bridgewater-Raritan at 6 p.m. The Warriors are 4-4, 2-2 in the league, after a 23-22 win at Plainfield on Saturday, per MaxPreps, last updated October 17.

## Saturday and Sunday: early voting opens

The state Division of Elections lists October 24 through November 1 for in person early voting, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can vote at any Somerset County early voting site, not only one near your polling place. The county's polling place page still showed its 2025 list when I checked, six sites in Bernards, Bridgewater, Franklin, Hillsborough, Montgomery and North Plainfield, none in Warren. Confirm the 2026 sites with the county before you go. The Warren ballot carries the [nonbinding Hofheimer House question](https://blog.johnmangini.com/hofheimer-house-ballot-question/).

The Mini Dump runs Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Department of Public Works, 1 Bardy Road. It is for residents only and takes checks, not cash: $20 for a car, $25 for an SUV, $40 for a small van or pickup, $60 for a full size van and $80 for a full size pickup. It is the last Mini Dump date on the [Warren calendar](https://blog.johnmangini.com/calendar/) this fall. Wagner Farm Arboretum's Giving Garden volunteer morning runs from 9 a.m. to noon at 197 Mountain Avenue. The arboretum's events page lists October 31 as the last one this year.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

## Roads

Warren police posted one road alert since last Monday's week ahead: on Saturday, Reinman Road between Mitchell Avenue and Stirling Road was cut to one lane from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tree trimming. The Stirling Road bridge between Community Place and Dillon Court is the long running closure. Somerset County's project page gives an August 2026 start and a five month estimate, with cars detoured by Mountain Avenue and Hillcrest Road. It does not give a reopening date, and I found no county notice that the bridge has reopened. Background is in the [August 20 post](https://blog.johnmangini.com/stirling-road-bridge-contract/).

## The forecast

The National Weather Service point forecast for Warren, issued at 4:08 a.m. today, carries the frost advisory until 9 a.m. and no rain through Sunday. Nights fall to the upper 30s by the weekend.

What I could not verify

I could not read the township website for this piece, so the township's News Flash items, calendar and agendas from the past week are not reflected here. Dates drawn from earlier township notices come from the [Warren calendar](https://blog.johnmangini.com/calendar/), where each was confirmed when it was added. Not confirmed: the agenda for Thursday's Township Committee meeting, the location of Wednesday's Environmental Commission meeting, Somerset County's 2026 early voting sites, and library programs this week, because the library's event listings did not load for me.
