Update, September 25, 2026

The Harvest Festival is cancelled. Wagner Farm Arboretum called it off shortly before noon Friday, citing the high winds forecast for Saturday. "We are heartbroken to share that tomorrow's Harvest Festival & Artisan Market at Wagner Farm Arboretum has been canceled due to the forecasted high winds and resulting safety concerns," the arboretum wrote [on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/Ddt1XRelspc/?ref=blog.johnmangini.com).

"We held out as long as we could in hopes that conditions would improve, but the safety of our vendors, performers, volunteers, guests, and community has to come first," the post says. "So much time, work, and excitement has gone into this event, and we are incredibly disappointed that we won't get to share it with you tomorrow."

The arboretum names no make-up date this fall. It points to 2027 instead: a Spring Festival on Saturday, May 15, and the Harvest Festival's return on Saturday, September 25\. Warren Township's news page now lists the festival as postponed, with a new date to come. The arboretum, which runs the festival, uses the word "canceled."

The rest of the weekend stands as reported below. The wind advisory still runs from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and the township's notices for Saturday's Mini Dump and Sunday's blood drive showed no change as of Friday afternoon. The festival details further down are as published at 6:37 a.m., before the call.

The daffodil bulbs NextHome Premier bought to hand out at the festival are still going to Warren residents, free: reserve a bag at [warrendaffodils.com](https://blog.johnmangini.com/daffodils/).

At 4:43 a.m. Friday the National Weather Service placed Somerset County under a wind advisory that runs from 6 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Sunday, with north winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. Wagner Farm Arboretum's first Harvest Festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday at 197 Mountain Avenue, and its listing says rain or shine. Saturday's forecast for Warren is rain after 7 a.m., a high near 61 and gusts as high as 40 mph.

The short answer

The Harvest Festival and Artisan Market runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wagner Farm Arboretum, 197 Mountain Avenue, free, rain or shine, with a main stage schedule from 10 a.m. and raffle drawings at 3:30 p.m. The Mini Dump at the Public Works garage, 1 Bardy Road, is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Warren residents only, checks only. The community blood drive is Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Shepherds' Hall at Our Lady of the Mount, 170 Mount Bethel Road. A wind advisory runs from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday. The Mountainview Road paving that was to start today between Round Top Road and Mount Bethel Road is postponed. The general election ballot drop box is open at 46 Mountain Boulevard.

## The weather first

The point forecast for Warren, updated at 4:10 a.m. Friday, adds rain from Saturday morning into Sunday night.

## Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: the festival

Update, September 25, 2026

Cancelled. Wagner Farm Arboretum called off the festival shortly before noon Friday because of the forecast high winds. The details below are as published that morning.

Admission is free. The arboretum's listing places local crafters, artisans and food vendors beside the farm's red silos and says the day happens rain or shine. The festival guide the foundation links from its listing, a map with a vendor directory and stage schedule, lists more than 80 numbered vendor spots across a front row, four zones and the path to the gate, with visitor parking on the grounds off Mountain Avenue, restrooms, and a first aid point marked on the map. The township's 250th anniversary flyer from June listed the festival with a 250th theme to be included.

| Main stage | Act |

Food trucks in the guide are Zita's Ice Cream, The Mexi Boys, O'Sensational Sweets and La Choclera, with hot food from Shae Kitchen, Eddie's Kettle Corn and Beastro and coffee from Coffee Culture Roastery. Pumpkins to pick and decorate are $3, $5 and $8 by size with the decorating supplies included, and there are free fall crafts for children. The 50/50 is $5 a ticket, cash only, and basket raffle tickets start at $3, with both drawings at 3:30 p.m.

Disclosure

NextHome Premier, the brokerage I own and the publisher of Warren, Local., is the festival's presenting sponsor, and the guide puts our table in the front row. [The September 14 post](https://blog.johnmangini.com/wagner-farm-harvest-festival-2026/) explains how that came about. Nobody at the arboretum saw this post before it went up, and every fact in it is sourced below.

On the weather, what I can tell you is what the record says. The listing says rain or shine, the wind advisory runs through the whole of Saturday, and the forecast has gusts to 40 mph during festival hours. The arboretum's office keeps weekday hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so I could not reach anyone before this went up, and nothing on its site said otherwise as of Friday morning. If you are deciding at breakfast Saturday, wfafnj.org and the arboretum's social accounts are where a change would appear first. The foundation's Giving Garden volunteer harvest also runs Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon, through October 31, on the same grounds.

## Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: the Mini Dump

The Mini Dump at the Public Works garage, 1 Bardy Road, takes bulk household items, old furniture and other oversized junk from Warren residents only. It is checks only, made out to the Township of Warren, and the township asks you not to fill in the amount until an employee sets it: $20 for a car, $25 for an SUV, $40 for a small van or pickup, $60 for a full size van and $80 for a full size pickup. Clean white foam is accepted for recycling, as [covered in August](https://blog.johnmangini.com/styrofoam-recycling-year-round/). Not accepted: cardboard, glass, plastic, newspaper, tin cans, refrigerators, air conditioners, paint cans, propane tanks, roofing shingles, concrete, brick, yard and food waste, and every kind of electronics from televisions to laptops. Follow the one way signs in and out. The dump closes three hours before the festival does, and the next dates are October 10 and October 24.

## Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.: the blood drive

New Jersey Blood Services runs a community blood drive Sunday, September 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Shepherds' Hall at Our Lady of the Mount, 170 Mount Bethel Road. The township notice frames it as a drive to fight childhood cancer. Appointments are preferred and walk ins are welcome, and the appointment link is in the township's notice. Donors must be 17 or older, or 16 with parental consent, meet the minimum weight, bring a photo ID, and arrive fed, hydrated and symptom free. Eligibility questions go to nybc.org or 800-933-BLOOD.

## Friday, before the wind picks up

Mayor Shaun Fine leads the last of September's wellness walks at 10:15 a.m. today at East County Park, meeting near the information kiosk, the fourth walk in the Mayors Wellness Campaign series. The Manhattan Short Film Festival gets a second screening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the program room at the Warren Township Library branch, 42 Mountain Boulevard. Angelo L. Tomaso School has movie night at 6:30 p.m. Watchung Hills plays at Hunterdon Central at 6 p.m. The Warriors are 1 and 3 after a 55 to 24 loss at Somerville on September 18, and the next home game is October 9 against North Hunterdon. The wind advisory starts at 6 p.m.

## Roads

Milling and paving on Mountainview Road between Round Top Road and Mount Bethel Road was scheduled to run from today through Tuesday, September 29, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., under a police alert issued Tuesday morning. On Wednesday the township posted that the contractor was postponing the work for the coming weather, and at 2:06 p.m. Thursday the police repeated it. A new schedule will be announced when there is one, and [the paving list from August](https://blog.johnmangini.com/warren-roads-2026/) has the rest of the program.

Two other closures need a caveat. A police alert on September 15 closed Mountain Avenue eastbound between Old Stirling Road and Stirling Road for utility repair, with no end date, and I could not confirm Friday morning whether it has reopened. The county's Stirling Road bridge between Community Place and Dillon Court has been closed since August 3, and [the August roads post](https://blog.johnmangini.com/warren-roads-2026/) has it staying shut until December.

## The ballot box, and the week after

The township said Wednesday that its ballot drop box at 46 Mountain Boulevard is open for vote by mail ballots in the November 3 general election. The clerk's office answers at 908-753-8000.

Monday, September 28 is the last day for written comments on Warren's application to the state Resilient Communities Program for the $3,500,000 Maxwell Court and Cherry Tree Lane drainage project, which [Monday's post](https://blog.johnmangini.com/week-ahead-september-21/) covered. Comments go to jason.cline@rve.com with the subject line Public Comment, Resilient Communities Grant. The K-8 Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Warren Middle School, 100 Old Stirling Road, and a vote on [the grades 4 and 5 intermediate school model](https://blog.johnmangini.com/warren-schools-planning-for-growth/) was anticipated for this meeting when the plan was presented in August. I could not confirm Monday's agenda before publishing. Watchung Hills holds a financial aid night webinar at 7 p.m. the same evening.

Wednesday, September 30 brings the community vaccine clinic, 3 to 6 p.m. at the Warren Township Courthouse, 46 Mountain Boulevard, with flu, COVID, pneumonia and Tdap shots from the Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission and Green Brook Family Medicine. Pre-registration is requested, the shots are free under most insurance plans, and the township notice lists the plans that are not accepted, including all HMOs. A second clinic follows on October 21.

Saturday, October 3 has the SAT at Watchung Hills and the Homecoming dance from 6 to 9 p.m. The Board of Adjustment meets Monday, October 5 at 7 p.m. in the Susie B. Boyce Court Room, 44 Mountain Boulevard, and the same room hosts a talk in the township's 250th anniversary series, Warren NJ in the American Revolution, The Spirit of Liberty, on Tuesday, October 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. October 7 is the deadline to register for the Municipal Alliance's Jack Walsh Great Pumpkin 5K on October 31 and still get a shirt. The next trail volunteer clean up at the Codington Farmstead and Woods trails is Saturday, October 17 at 8:30 a.m. All of it is on [the calendar](https://blog.johnmangini.com/calendar/).

What I could not verify

Whether the arboretum has any weather plan beyond rain or shine. Whether the Mountain Avenue eastbound utility closure from September 15 has ended. Watchung Hills weekend home games: the school's athletics calendar would not open for me, so only the football schedule from MaxPreps is reported. Weekend hours at the library branch. And Thursday's Township Committee meeting: its agenda was amended at 12:29 p.m. that day, I have not read the amended version, and nothing from the meeting is reported here. Ordinance 26-23, the $1,400,000 bond ordinance for property at Round Top, and Ordinance 26-24, the San Road vacation for The Hollows at Warren, were still on the township's pending adoption page Friday morning.
